hkszbiennale 2009-10; part 1 of ?

I literally dashed to see the closing of the Hong Kong portion of the 2009-10 Hong Kong-Shenzhen Biennale. The exhibition site this time is the open air, still very much barren and yet-to-be West Kowloon Cultural District, reclaimed land from sea in the past decade or so. One of the exhibit was a model of those cage-home style flats in the former Kowloon Walled City.

This type of housing still exist to this date, in areas like Sham Shui Po. The challenge for the government is do help improve the extremely crammed living environment of residents in these buildings and yet avoiding the preying eyes of various real estate developers which have been contributing so much to the gentrification of this city.
